Today, millions of women and girls* around the world are stigmatised, excluded and discriminated against simply because they menstruate.

It’s not acceptable that because of a natural bodily function women and girls continue to be prevented from getting an education, earning an income and fully and equally participating in everyday life.

While Menstrual Hygiene Day is on 28 May, our team and our partners work all year round to:

Break the taboos and end the stigma surrounding menstruation
Raise awareness about the challenges regarding access to menstrual products, education about menstruation and period-friendly sanitation facilities
Mobilise the funding required for action at scale
All of this contributes to our overarching goal: to build a world where no one is held back because they menstruate by 2030.

The Challenge

We were to create stories of women who have different journey in menstruation. The brief was to get women of different ages and with unique and different experiences.
We settled on 5 ladies that gave us amazing stories to encourage women about they menstrual experiences.

The Solution

Following an initial discussion, our team planned out a structure for the website, taking both user experience and search engines into consideration. We agreed on WordPress as the content management system of choice, allowing the website to be easily edited following launch.

Having understood the mission of Ikweza, our team also developed a digital marketing strategy that included a content strategy, social media strategy, and email marketing strategy. This lead to the development of graphic materials and educational videos that were produced by our production department.

Our digital team them took over the management and optimization of the social media platforms to grow engagement and awareness of Ikweza
